Summary of Position

Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will oversee financial operations at both the corporate and program levels while playing a key role in supporting the company’s growth strategy. The Director of Finance is responsible for monitoring general accounting practices and developing internal controls to ensure separation of duties. The director is expected to be courteous and professional while upholding the core Goodwill values of Empowerment, Public Trust, Respect, Innovation, Quality, and Safety.

Responsibilities and Duties

Accounting, Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead all accounting operations. Prepare and process monthly general entries including workers compensation, prepaid insurance, and depreciation.
  • Coordinate the activities related to financial audits and financial monitoring of grants from various funding sources.
  • Complete year‑end closing responsibilities.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short‑term and long‑term growth plan of agency.
  • Responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of information.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance. Develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. Monitor key financial and operating metrics to drive decision‑making.
  • Partner with operations, people services, business services, IT and other stakeholders to plan, implement, and/or enhance systems and programs. Partner with investment teams on project financing—including debt, equity, refinancing, and tax equity structures.
  • Ensure back‑off processes (i.e. billing, premium financing, collections, payables) are efficient, well‑documented, and scalable for growth.

Administrative

  • Oversee management of and ensure development for staff to meet overall objectives in terms of quality, service and cost effectiveness. Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluation of direct reports.
  • Contribute to the fulfillment of department and agency objectives and goals. Embrace the agency’s core values in the spirit in which the agency operates at work and in the community. Comply with all department and agency policies, procedures and regulations. Adhere to and enforce safety and loss prevention procedures to prevent injury to personnel and damage to property, equipment, and inventory.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business field.
  • Seven (7) years experience in accounting and/or financial management, with at least two (2) years in a supervisor role.
  • CPA, or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • Possess a valid Driver License with a clean driving record. Reliable transportation with the ability to travel within the region as required for meeting participants, workshops, and meetings. Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check and drug/alcohol screen.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Be highly resourceful and self‑motivated, with ability to work effectively with little supervision.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, financial controls, audit processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting, forecasting, and data analysis tools and business intelligence systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional handling of exposure to confidential/sensitive information.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit in an office environment for extended periods of time.

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
  • Great Plains Accounting Software
