A professional nurse, graduate of an accredited nursing school, with specific education and training in surveillance, prevention, and control of infections. Knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, sterilization, and disinfection processes is required. Candidates should be proficient in teaching adult education principles, employee orientation, and updating infection control practices. Ability to communicate effectively with all staff levels and external agencies is essential. Membership in the American Public Health Institute (APIC) is preferred.
Responsibilities- Determine priorities related to patient care and complete tasks within appropriate time frames.
- Delegate work appropriately and provide clear, concise directions.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all work performed.
- Follow hospital policies and procedures in performing job functions and tasks.
- Adjust personal schedule as needed to accommodate workload fluctuations.
- Pursue additional tasks to maximise productivity when assigned work is complete.
- Maintain composure and effective coping skills in stressful or emergency situations.
- Follow through with assignments and inform supervisor if unable to complete a task.
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or health‑related field (preferred).
- 1+ year’s experience in a clinical setting (preferred).
- 1+ year’s experience in Infection Control (preferred).
- 1+ year’s experience in a leadership role (preferred).
- Certification in Infection Control within the last two years (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
