Join the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) as a Data Analyst II and help improve quality of care at State Supported Living Centers (SSLC). The role supports a systematic approach to monitoring, analyzing and continually improving care and services.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain databases and reports using MS Access, MS Excel, SQL and other tools.
- Ensure integrity, security, and accessibility of SSLC databases, data, and reports.
- Create, update, and present management tools and trend reports for quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement database procedures for data collection and tracking relevant to SSLC quality assurance.
- Use relational database management systems to develop queries and report software for data analysis.
- Conduct complex analysis and research on data and reporting results.
- Monitor data to identify potential trends and assist program staff in addressing them.
- Respond to ad‑hoc data requests from program staff and state office data analysts.
- Serve as liaison with state office data analysts and HHSC IT.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Council members to maximize data collection and analysis opportunities.
- Work under general supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment. Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of agency programs, policies, and service delivery processes.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel, including formulas.
- Experienced in managing data in relational databases, developing queries, and report software.
- Proficient use of MS Excel, including advanced formulas.
- Complex problem solving and critical thinking.
- Ability to gather, review, and analyze data for trends.
- Ability to distill large collections of data into readable formats for tracking and trending.
- Attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Willingness to learn new systems such as SharePoint.
- Team player and works well with stakeholders.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Work experience with MS Access and Excel.
- Work experience in data analysis, research, and report design.
- Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining queries and reports.
- Technical school or college/university coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
- Experience with MS SharePoint.
- Experience working with electronic health records.
