DescriptionThe Project Superintendent can run standalone multi-craft projects up to $10 Million dollars. The Project Superintendent is responsible for supporting and assisting the Project Lead with the overall craft management of a large or small construction project. They will manage at a minimum the safety, quality, labor, material, scope, client interaction, and overall execution of all disciplines.
To successfully manage their work, they must have a thorough understanding of the industry’s best practices and codes for their craft.
Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) General:- 7 years of experience in a specific craft
- History of working successfully as a Sr. Craft Superintendent.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and execute independently, maintain excellent rapport with team members
- Communication, planning, organization and delegation skills.
- Read and understand contract documents, project drawings, specifications, technical data, assembly methods, and O&M manuals
- Understand local ordinances, contractor licensing and city and county permitting requirements
- Lead project constructability reviews and task plans to improve the execution of the project, lead reviews of their scope
- Knowledge of overall project financial principles to quantify costs and benefits to allow for correct decision making
- Demonstrate business skills including: communication skills, relationship development, and business acumen
- Self-motivated; capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
- Interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate team efforts, provide direction to team members, and communicate project objectives, parameters, status, and outcomes to stakeholders
- Written and verbal communication with ability to serve as a spokesperson for Company
- Willing to travel extensively and relocate to the next project location for an extended period (typically 6-12 months)
- Ability to adapt and become an influential leader of Strobel’s culture and values
- Represent Strobel in a professional manner in all client interaction activities
- Hold daily, weekly and monthly meetings with the client
- Ability to act as the safety manager on site and oversee incident management
- Understand and lead Strobel’s Corporate Safety Plan and develop/assist in site specific safety plan
- Accountable to identify safety hazards employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Ability to make project decisions related to the safety of all employees including sitewide stop work
- Support or lead safety training meetings and sessions
- Submit purchase requests for craft specific safety consumables (goggles, gloves, etc.)
- Support and lead additional safety practices:
Supervisor audits, Craft observations, Safety Leadership Meetings - Lead and train to the Strobel planning/JSA process for your crews
- Lead the morning stretch /flex and morning gang box meetings
- Ensure your crews report ALL safety events such as near misses, incidents, good catches, etc.
- Understand and lead Strobel’s Corporate Quality Plan and develop/assist in site specific quality plan
- Read, understand, and distribute contract drawings and specifications to all field leadership
- Read, understand, and ensure that the site quality plan is communicated, and all inspections and quality documentation is being completed on time and assembled for final turn-over
- Identify and fulfill all client and 3 rd party inspections
- Inspect crews work for compliance with company, contract, and code requirements
- Identify deficiencies, explain and take any corrective action needed
- Identify inconsistencies between industry best practices and specifications/drawings and provide value engineering through the request for information (RFI) process
- Ensure that your crew is qualified to perform their work and have the appropriate certifications/license to execute their work.
- Understand the project assigned work and budgets and meet or beat the budgeted man-hours.
