Position SummaryReporting to the President/CEO, the VP/CPFO will provide strategic leadership for the Facilities Services Department, including Physical Plant, Grounds, Building Maintenance, Facilities Planning, Capital Projects, and Environmental Health & Safety. They will develop, implement, and monitor the multi‑year Facilities Master Plan, oversee all aspects of DMC physical facilities, manage budgets, ensure compliance with regulations, and lead initiatives that support the district’s strategic goals.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in a related field
- Three (3) years upper‑level executive experience
- Seven (7) years experience in the following areas:
- Managerial and supervisory responsibilities
- Leading and managing multi‑million‑dollar construction projects
- Local, state, and federal regulations
- Strategic planning
- Budgeting and financial management
- OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Five (5) years upper‑level executive experience
- Ten (10) years experience in the following areas:
- Managerial and supervisory responsibilities
- Leading and managing multi‑million‑dollar construction projects
- Local, state, and federal regulations
- Strategic planning
- Budgeting and financial management
- In addition, the successful candidate will possess:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Demonstrated experience in strategic facility (or “Master”) planning
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance systems
- Knowledge of construction trades
- Knowledge of facilities safety procedures, including interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards
- Knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety operations at an enterprise level
- Knowledge of record and report preparation techniques
- Knowledge of managerial principles and budgeting principles
- Skills in inspecting facilities, equipment and other structures
- Skilled in preparing records and reports and monitoring budgets
- Skilled in planning, analyzing, evaluating and presenting operational needs and services
- Skilled in evaluating research to identify potential solutions
- Skilled in using a computer and related software applications
- Skilled in managing complex projects with college-wide impact
- Skilled in allocating resources effectively and efficiently
- Skilled in monitoring and evaluating employees, delegating and prioritizing work
- Skilled in developing departmental and personnel goals and procedures
- Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interactions and working effectively with internal stakeholders, faculty, staff and students.
- Ability and capacity to balance supporting the various needs of the individual college campuses while also addressing the needs of the DMC District System
- Strong collaboration capabilities, soft skills, leadership and communication skills
- Experience overseeing multiple sites and managing a varied range of facility projects
- Extensive experience preparing and executing facilities capital expenditure plans and financial requests to executive leadership and a board
- Experience overseeing Environmental Health & Safety
- Engineering degree or Architecture degree
- Experience leading bond construction projects in higher education
- Related experience in the higher education industry
- Direct long‑range and short‑range planning efforts that support the district’s strategic goals.
- Prepare for major capital improvements and accomplish short‑range remodeling and new construction projects district‑wide.
- Administer maintenance and repair activities throughout the district.
- Proactively identify and implement operating cost and energy savings programs; ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory provisions.
- Lead the implementation of the DMC Facilities Master Plan, ensuring alignment with the district’s strategic goals.
