R Day Production Technician (Open)
OverviewAir Liquide Large Industries provides industrial gas and energy solutions vital to industrial production. Air Liquide owns and operates over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S., supplying oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and syngas to chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and production facilities are monitored 24/7 from our Houston control center, monitoring 89,000 data points to ensure reliability and efficiency for our customers.
Responsibilities- Leads on-the-job training and mentoring of facility personnel
- Supports technician training qualification record keeping
- Reviews training system content with corporate training, aligning with LI NAM facilities
- Recommends technician progression based on competency assessments
- Follows all Food Safety, FDA, and cGMP policies in operating practices
- Leads verification of Batch Production Log Reports
- Demonstrates identified skill sets in daily operational duties
- Assists with operations and plant startup assistance/coverage
- Instills safety in others by modeling good safety practices
- Performs plant inspections to identify corrective/preventive actions
- Participates in maintenance job walkdowns with other disciplines and service providers
- Plans operational/routine maintenance tasks within the facility work group without interrupting customer product deliveries
- Leads open communication among all facility technicians regarding best practices, operational/facility needs, safety issues/concerns, conflicts of interest, and sharing operational knowledge/expertise
- Communicates relevant topics to all shift technicians, including safety, human relations, training, technical information, etc.
- Assists, works closely with Operations or Plant Manager around daily facility requirements and needs
- Assists with training or participation with loading of operational (corrective) maintenance work orders in MAXIMO
- Plays a leading role in preparations for facility Turnaround planning, preparation and safe execution
- Conducts acceptance PSSR reviews with operations and maintenance
- Keeps accurate records; diligent in documentation, record retention policies/procedures
- Studies and maintains site‑specific standard operating procedures, P&IDs, PFDs, and other technical documentation as related to operational/equipment processes
- Escort on‑site contractors, vendors, guests, or visitors throughout the facility as needed; ensures compliance with national safety policies/procedures
- Participates in facility safety meetings, inspections and audits
- Performs daily spot checks on lock‑out/tag‑out and on the permit‑to‑work system
- Operates Truck Auto‑Loading System (TAS) as necessary
- Follows policies/procedures for proper notification for vacation scheduling, floating holidays, personal days off
- All other duties based on business needs
- On‑call availability required (OPTIONAL – delete if not needed)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2‑year Associate’s Degree in a technical field or technical training preferred
- 6+ years of related industrial operations experience
- Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts, as needed for coverage
- Overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, company safety policies/procedures; performs all work in compliance with standard operating/maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety skills, Safe Start and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation, IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre‑job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
- Knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes/equipment
- Exhibits understanding of governmental regulations including Food Safety, FDA, Current Good Manufacturing Practices, environmental permitting/compliance, loading/quality assurance, basic electricity, national/local operating procedures, CMMS, maintenance management process, all HSE issues associated with the facility; exhibits mechanical ability
- Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing
