Nurse Manager – High Risk Clinic
Location: Corpus Christi, TX
OverviewThe High‑Risk Clinic Manager, reporting to the Director of the High‑Risk Department, oversees clinic operations and ensures quality patient care, fiscal accountability, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain utmost confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Support and promote a professional practice model encouraging staff participation in developing clinical standards.
- Demonstrate ethical business practices in line with corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Provide day‑to‑day operational oversight of the clinic.
- Organize, manage, and delegate licensed and unlicensed staff for patient care in compliance with hospital policies.
- Address staffing needs to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Create and adjust the monthly staff schedule as needed.
- Monitor the schedule and intervene proactively when issues arise.
- Monitor safety, infection control, and quality standards.
- Support referring physicians to promote ease of access for patients requiring specialized care and ensure supplies, equipment, and staffing are available.
- Provide secondary support to the clinic Director for other clinic sites.
- Review incoming referrals and establish follow‑up time frames.
- Participate in the Vermont Oxford Database for ELBW infants.
- Establish evidence‑based practice guidelines.
- Present performance data reports and discuss findings at appropriate forums.
- Participate in meetings with the Department Director, Medical Directors, and staff.
- Investigate, plan, develop, and support opportunities for expanding services.
- Establish annual departmental goals and objectives.
- Provide outreach to the community, hospitals, and pediatricians/specialists.
- Plan and conduct staff meetings to keep staff informed.
- Facilitate communication between all team members and involve the director in establishing practice standards and research projects.
- Manage equipment and supplies, assess needs, and maintain inventory.
- Ensure regular quality, control, and cleaning of all equipment and communicate with vendors for samples, equipment, and services.
- Track maintenance and problem logs for all equipment.
- Coordinate in‑services for staff and physicians on new equipment and supplies.
- Provide training to ensure proper quality control.
- Develop innovative ways to safely and effectively utilize existing resources.
- Integrate department goals into practice and promote hospital objectives.
- Coach staff to improve performance through educational applications.
- Develop annual goals to address departmental development needs of staff.
- Act as a leadership “change agent” and model professional behavior.
- Promote collaboration and share responsibility for conflict resolution.
- Provide feedback for staff performance and evaluation.
- Consult patient care providers, faculty, and students on specific care needs and pursue educational leadership opportunities.
- Maintain current clinical knowledge by reading journals and attending seminars.
- Support the mission of the clinic, communicate it consistently, and serve as a patient and staff advocate.
- Interface with patients and families to ensure care aligns with expectations.
- Support staff through organizational change and facilitate smooth transitions.
- Supervise delivery of patient care for assigned clinics and ensure compliance with clinical patient care standards and policies.
- Assist the Director with maintaining clinical competencies for the area and providing patient care as needed.
- Assess, coach, and evaluate staff practice levels.
- Assist the Director with maintaining required records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes.
- Coordinate development, implementation, and evaluation of policies that improve operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with other hospital personnel to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Ensure documentation of patient care is complete and accurate per policies.
- Prepare and monitor the operational and capital budget with the Director and assist in budget recommendations.
- Monitor resource utilization and formulate plans for fiscal efficiency and patient care satisfaction.
- Promote family‑centered care by liaising with families and guest relations personnel.
- Act as a liaison with service physicians and ancillary services daily.
- Registration and licensure in the State of Texas as appropriate.
- BSN required; MSN preferred.
- Certification in a specialty area preferred.
- Licensed RN in State of Texas.
- NRP certified.
- Certifications in specialty areas preferred.
