The purpose of this position is to patrol campus property in order to provide for the safety and welfare of students and employees. The Police Officer is responsible for providing security to campus property including buildings, vehicles, equipment and land. This position reports directly to the Chief of Security.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid TX Driver’s License with the ability to be insured by Del Mar College.
- TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) certified peace officer.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communication/public relation skills.
- Proven ability to act quickly and intelligently in an emergency situation.
- Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform general patrol (emergency response, medical and calls for service) duties.
- Understanding of crime prevention and community police.
- Ability to effectively use and maintain law enforcement equipment.
- Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Understanding the mission, goals and objectives of a community college.
- Currently employed as a Corpus Christi Police Officer.

- Patrol campus property to provide for the safety and welfare of students and employees.
- Provide security to campus property including buildings, vehicles, equipment and land.
- Enforce state and federal laws, local ordinances, and college rules and regulations pertaining to students, employees and visitors while on College property.
- Detect and deter crimes, respond to complaints, recognize situations quickly and objectively and determine the appropriate actions.
- Enforce parking regulations, assist motorists, and direct traffic flow when needed.
- Perform initial investigations and follow up investigations into criminal activity.
- Testify in court of law as to findings in criminal investigations.
- Prepare written reports and incident reports relating to criminal incidents, security and safety matters.
- Additional duties shall include other appropriate activities as assigned by the Chief of Security.
