Location:

The Victim Advocate provides direct services to victims of crime and their families while supporting community education, outreach, and program reporting. This role serves as a key resource for community partners and helps ensure that crime victims receive compassionate, ethical, and effective support.
Key Responsibilities Direct Services- Provide crisis intervention to victims of crime and/or their families
- Conduct follow-up contacts with victims and families
- Provide information and referrals to appropriate community resources
- Assist victims and families with applying for crime victims’ compensation
- Support access to crime victims’ compensation benefits
- Advocate on behalf of crime victims to access needed services
- Maintain case files in accordance with grant and accreditation standards
- Prepare timely and accurate contact notes for client files
- Provide educational supervision to student interns, including training and orientation
- Support the educational goals of university or college programs
- Complete written student evaluations according to school criteria
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with agencies and organizations throughout the Coastal Bend
- Serve as a point of contact for community partners working with crime victims
- Represent Crime Victim Services and Family Counseling Service at informational fairs
- Assist with planning and implementation of training events, as directed by the Program Manager
- Complete program data collection, statistical tracking, and reporting in accordance with funding requirements
- Prepare and submit Time and Attendance Reports, Work Activity Logs, CJD Activity Reports, and Outreach/Presentation reports in a timely manner
- Assist the Program Manager with preparing materials for Family Counseling Service Quality Improvement quarterly meetings
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Team
- Strong interest in crime victim and survivor rights and services
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to respond respectfully and appropriately
- Commitment to empowering individuals while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage responsibilities effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build respectful, collaborative relationships
- Adherence to professional ethical standards and expectations
The Victim Advocate reports directly to the Program Manager and operates within agency policies, procedures, and budgetary guidelines.
