Ability to teach safe procedures for operating commercial vehicles to entry‑level and experienced drivers in accordance with State, Federal, and Local Regulations for Commercial Vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years verifiable Truck Driver experience utilizing a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Valid Texas Class A CDL with ability to be insurable by Del Mar College.
- No more than three (3) moving violations on driving record in the past three (3) years.
- Comply with FMCSA medical requirements by possessing a current DOT physical medical card.
- Must have, or will obtain, Passengers and School Bus endorsements within six (6) months of employment and keep the certification current.
- Must be willing to obtain a TPST Examiner Certification within six (6) months of employment and keep the certification current.
- Must have a satisfactory Texas DPS Abstract Driving Record.
- Knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining to commercial drivers.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Must maintain a current DOT physical medical card.
- Experience as a driver trainer.
- Demonstrate the proper and safe operation of commercial motor vehicles and tractor‑trailer combinations; commercial vehicle safety control and braking systems; vehicle maintenance; state and federal highway regulations governing operation of commercial vehicles.
- Evaluate student capabilities and progress in accordance with the State of Texas standardized testing materials.
