Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide exceptional customer service and the efficient, timely and accurate distribution of material to the College’s campuses to support the College’s operations. This is accomplished by conducting business in a professional manner, delivering material to the various campus departments, providing distribution services for the College’s mail, conducting routine maintenance of equipment, and maintaining warehouse facilities.

Other duties include additional assignments as needed and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of related experience.
  • Valid Driver License with ability to obtain a Texas Driver License within 90 days of hire and be insurable by Del Mar College.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to move, lift, and carry materials, equipment and furniture (up to 100 pounds), load and unload cargo, climb ladders, service vehicles and perform warehouse maintenance.
  • Mechanical aptitude and use of hand tools for assembly of furniture and equipment.
  • Ability to display tact and courtesy, establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals, adapt to changing work priorities, meet deadlines and schedules, set priorities, and work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge to perform basic math, read and follow instructions, and understand multi‑step written and oral instructions.
  • Skills to operate equipment used in warehouse functions and drive vans and pick‑up trucks.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, maintain custody and control of packages, parcels, mail and materials during transit and delivery to intended recipient, and correctly process associated delivery tickets and other documents.

Job Duties
  • Represents the College in a professional manner and assists faculty and staff with interactions with the Purchasing department in a courteous manner.
  • Processes and handles materials by loading material into vehicles, delivering material to the appropriate location, and moving furniture and equipment as scheduled by the warehouse supervisor.
  • Uses a hand‑held scanner to ensure proof of delivery, reads work orders, and follows oral instructions to ascertain material to be moved.
  • Operates delivery trucks, forklifts, and hand trucks; picks up and delivers mail at the local post office and designated campus locations; delivers bulk mail to the main post office as needed.
  • Conducts routine maintenance of equipment by monitoring items such as tire air pressure and fluid levels on a weekly basis; washes and waxes vehicles; processes all other normal operating maintenance functions.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance logs by keeping a log of all service orders completed on departmental vehicles.
  • Maintains a safe, organized and clean work area in the warehouse and at delivery locations.
  • Assists the Warehouse Supervisor by performing shipping and receiving and clerical duties as needed.
