Assembly

Work under the direction of the Assembly Supervisor or his/her designee and be familiar with all operations within this department. Work with other departments on all items to improve operational sequences.

• Read blueprints/specifications, drawings, and flat layouts.
• Fits parts together and fastens them to cabinets.
• Bolts, staples, or screws parts together, using hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, pneumatic screwdrivers, and drills.
• Inserts such parts as casters and scuff plates into holes or slots.
• Bends fastening devices and fits interlocking parts together with hammer or rubber mallet or by striking parts against floor or workbench.
• Applies touch‑up paint to cabinets using brush or spray gun.
• Packs cabinets for shipment.
• Unloads powder coat line.
• Keep work area clean.
• Help on the small powder line when needed.
• Work in other areas of the shop when needed.
• Check the parts over to make sure they are not scratched, dented, or any other flaws.

• Customer and vendor contact.
• Move material with hand truck or fork truck.
• Complete related paperwork (time cards, job tickets, quality check sheets).
• Clean up.
• Perform maintenance work.
• Perform other incidental functions related to the classification and those created by changes in methods/procedures, as well as equipment.
• Basic computer knowledge is an advantage but not necessary; training will be provided.

• Read, understand, and follow English written and oral instructions.
• Frequent physical functions; stand, walk, sit, bend, push, pull, and grasp.
• Physical effort required for frequent lifting, up to 50 lbs., on a regular daily basis.
• Observe plant work rules.
• Acceptable attendance performance, including overtime, is necessary.
• Strict adherence to safety practices, including the use of safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, or other protective gear as required.
