Position Summary

The Senior Pastor of Corry Alliance Church will be an advocate for, support, and bring life to the vision of loving God, loving others, and making disciples. This is done under the authority of the elders and shared leadership with the staff. The Senior Pastor is ultimately responsible to Christ, who is the true head of Corry Alliance Church. The Senior Pastor is a member of the church and operates under its bylaws.

Reporting Relationships - The Senior Pastor reports to the Elder Board.

Senior Pastor Responsibilities

• Preaching/Teaching
  • Serve as the primary preacher/teacher, leading in the proclamation of the whole Word, sound doctrine, and worship.
  • Present the gospel so that the unsaved will be given regular opportunity to hear and to respond to the truth.
  • Lead the efforts to love God, love others, and make disciples.
  • Devote adequate time to personal prayer and Bible study.
  • Lead effort to create pathways for Discipleship. Build a culture of disciples, who are making future disciples.
• Strategy/Vision/Direction
  • In conjunction with the Elders, develop and oversee the mission, vision, and strategy of the church, ensuring alignment with the clear teaching of Scripture. Serve as the primary communicator and leader of church mission, vision and strategy.
  • Actively encourage the church staff towards fulfillment of the church's vision to Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples.
  • Serving on the Elder Board with a team of elders to guide and lead the church family with skill and integrity.
  • Global Mission Minded – Great commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
• Biblical Counseling & Pastoral Care
  • Be a leader of Biblical Counseling and support the church family where needed.
  • Oversee, in conjunction with our current staff, official church functions such as weddings, funerals, and other events.
  • Visit the sick, dying and hurting in conjunction with our lay leaders, prioritizing the needs.

What You Bring

• Education and Experience
  • Formal Seminary Education preferred.
  • Experience as a senior pastor preferred.
  • Ordained or willing to be ordained by the Christian and Missionary Alliance required.
  • Biblical Counseling background is preferred.
• Character
  • The Senior Pastor must meet the qualifications for an elder listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:6 9 and 1 Peter 5:2-3.
  • The Senior Pastor must agree with the church bylaws, doctrinal statement, and overall mission, vision, and strategy.
  • Maintains a healthy, vibrant, and growing relationship with Jesus.
  • Relationship with wife / family is thriving.
  • Man of humility, grace, prayer, and love.
  • Demonstrates authenticity, steadiness, integrity, transparency, and Christ-centered confidence.
  • Continually growing, both personally and in ministry, regularly seeking to learn.
  • His identity is not found in the success of the ministry nor in those he serves, rather in Christ alone.
  • He seeks the glory of Jesus first in all things.
• Personal Characteristics
• Skills/Knowledge – Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, gifted communicator of God's Word, high relational bent with an emphasis on caring for staff and leaders and church attendees.
• Leadership – Leads with humility and team mentality as we lead and create disciples together (Ephesians 4:1-7)
