The Company

Icon Cancer Centre and Pharmaxo Group are leading healthcare providers delivering specialist services across the UK. Together, they bring a highly experienced team providing comprehensive cancer care, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology, chemotherapy, research, pharmacy, theragnostic and PET-CT through Icon Cancer Centre UK, alongside sterile compounding, and nursing home healthcare services through Pharmaxo. Together, Icon Cancer Centre and Pharmaxo deliver an end-to-end healthcare service for patients and partners across the UK.

The Role

A newly created Senior Group Accountant role that will support the opening of a new site in Reading, where you will be main point of contact leading on all finance operations. The role offers broad exposure across management accounting, financial accounting, group reporting, business partnering and process improvement, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a commercially focused finance environment.

You will work closely with the CFO and the wider UK finance team, senior leadership and operational stakeholders, providing accurate financial information and meaningful insight to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, revenue, payroll, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger integrity.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets and performance analysis, providing clear commentary on financial results and variances.
  • Support group reporting, consolidation and intercompany accounting, alongside statutory reporting, year-end audit and VAT compliance.
  • Provide commercial and financial insight to operational stakeholders, including KPI reporting, payor analysis, pricing and contract modelling, procurement analysis and profitability reviews.
  • Partner with non-finance stakeholders to improve cost control, financial understanding and business performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, reporting and systems, supporting continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Operations and senior leadership, communicating complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • This role will support the UK expansion, with several centres expected to open across the country. As a result, some travel will be required as part of the role.
  • The office locations will be split between Corsham (Head Office) and Reading, with weekly attendance required in each location depending on priorities of the business.

About You

We are looking for a qualified Accountant with at least four years' relevant experience who is ready to take on a broad and progressive role.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong financial accounting and management accounting experience.
  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • A good understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP, financial controls and reporting requirements.
  • Strong Excel and financial systems capability.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to turn financial data into meaningful commercial insight.
  • Experience of business partnering and communicating with non-finance stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and problem solving.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Experience with in healthcare or a multi-site service environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
