AboutThe Role
Providing a safe and secure workplace continues to be a top priority for Riot Platforms, Inc. Our armed security guards are the first line of defense and further provide a safe environment for our employees. Creating a safe environment generally includes engaging in cooperation, displaying goodwill, maintaining order, controlling access, promoting and enabling safe and secure behaviors, safeguarding assets, being aware of and enforcing rules and regulations, and deterring misconduct.
CoreResponsibilities
- Plan and adapt schedules as needed, clarify work, request resources, solve disputes, and assist at each post when additional personnel are required.
- Act as orientation officer to new officers for facility familiarization and policy understanding after training.
- Train approved safety regulations.
- Assist management in ensuring the safety of employees and contractors.
- Assist with administration in operation of security‑related systems.
- Maintain and recommend changes or improvements for security team activities.
- Advise manager and supervisor on safety concerns.
- Monitor supply levels, maintain inventories, and request supplies.
- Carry out safety and security procedures, site‑specific policies and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Report security violations and questionable activities, monitor facilities for damages from vandalism.
- Patrol property to prevent crimes, enforce rules, and protect workforce and property.
- Be well trained in surveillance and dealing with perpetrators.
- Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people.
- Secure all exits, doors, and windows after end of operations.
- Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation.
- Aid people in need.
- Use verbal de‑escalation techniques when necessary.
- Perform a variety of other duties assigned.
- Equipment and utility failures and hazards, fire, safety violations, accidents, or injuries.
- Security‑related deficiencies (i.e., unsecured/damaged access barriers, inadequate or inoperative protective lighting).
- Loitering or trespassing, property crimes (theft, vandalism, arson, sabotage, etc.), violent crimes.
- Use of intoxicants or non‑prescription narcotic drugs.
- General disturbances and unwanted or concerning behavior.
Lead a team of security officers.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is in an office and outside environment with the prolonged use of protective equipment and garments such as body armor and duty gear as required by site protection strategies. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Noise level is usually low to moderate.
Physical DemandsFull physical and mental dexterity including prolonged periods of walking and standing; squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing up/down ladders, walking up/down stairs, reaching above shoulder level, talking and hearing. The employee may be required to push or pull and lift up to 50 pounds. May work in stressful situations and under pressure. Acts calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Required Knowledge, Abilities, And Skills- Must have a DPS Level III / IV license upon hire.
- Associate degree and/or 2 years' experience in law enforcement, security, and/or military.
- Must maintain a high level of weapons proficiency.
