Tax Manager

It's the second week of March and a client rings about his mother's trust, the one nobody has looked at properly since last year's 1041 went out. At a big firm you'd hand it to the trust group. Here there isn't one, so it's yours, and by Friday you know that family's whole picture better than anybody else in the building.

That's the job. Tax manager in Corte Madera, $137k to $167k, at a firm of under 20 people whose clients are wealthy families and the businesses they own. Nobody's given me days at home on this one, so ask.

What you'll be doing:

• Review as well as prep, the real kind, across business, trust and individual returns
• Partnerships, LLCs, S corps and C corps, with the 1041s and the personal returns behind them
• Quarterly projections and the planning conversations that come out of them
• Handling notices and examinations when they land

What you'll have:

• CPA, or parts passed and finishing
• A few years of broad tax and accounting work inside a public accounting firm
• Pro System fx and BNA Income Tax Planner, or something close enough that you'll pick them up
