Position: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

Performs a variety of office duties in assisting the physician in office procedures, patient communication, completing necessary paperwork, and scheduling and referring patients for tests and treatments. Alternatively performs functions of a clinic assistant, functioning under the direction, guidance, and supervision of a licensed physician or nurse, assisting in planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients in coordination with other health disciplines.

Prepares patients and assists physician with minor surgical procedures. Takes vitals such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature. Maintains inventory of supplies, sterilizes instruments and equipment. May complete lab tests and/or x-rays with the scope of CMA credentials. Requires certification from a nationally approved accreditation body.

CCMA Regulatory/

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certificate (required) within 3 months of hire.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • One year prior medical assisting preferred.

Language

Skills:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical data and professional journals.
  • Ability to understand and use electronic medical record software.
  • Ability to listen and understand patient questions and communicate complex information accurately and understandably.
  • Strong communication skills.

** THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 DAYS. AFTER THAT DATE, THE POSITION WILL CLOSE WHEN A SUITABLE CANDIDATE IS SELECTED. **

As a condition of employment by Southwest Health System (SHS), you will be required to authorize SHS to conduct a background check prior to your commencing work at SHS, which includes a criminal investigation and verification of citizenship/immigration status, employment history, and education.

If you are selected for this position, prior to appointment, you will also be subject to a drug testing for illegal drug use.

SHS positions are subject to a Post Offer-Pre Work Screen. This physical exam will determine the capability of the applicant to perform the essential functions.
