Mid-Valley Literacy Center – Event Coordinator

Corvallis, OR. Position is part-time and on-site.

The Mid-Valley Literacy Center (MVLC), established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of non-traditional adult learners and English Language Learners (ELL). Serving a diverse community of individuals from 55 countries and over 30 languages, MVLC plays a pivotal role in providing English literacy, GED® preparation, Citizenship, and Basic Computer courses. These programs empower students to achieve employment, higher education opportunities, and stability in their lives.

With the support of committed volunteer tutors, who contribute over 9,000 hours annually, MVLC ensures small class sizes and a nurturing learning environment that fosters student success.

Role Description

The Event Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events that support MVLC’s mission. Responsibilities include managing event logistics, coordinating with stakeholders, overseeing budgets, developing event-related communications, and ensuring smooth event operations to achieve goals. Collaborating with community partners, engaging with participants, and providing excellent customer service will be integral to the role.

Qualifications
  • Experience in Event Planning and Event Management, ensuring the successful execution of events from start to finish.
  • Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and provide excellent participant support.
  • Sales expertise to promote events and engage with potential sponsors or partners to build strong relationships.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and work under deadlines.
  • Proficiency with relevant software tools, including event management platforms and basic office applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related field such as event planning, communications, or business management.
  • Passion for adult education and community service is highly valued.
