Main lesson teacher at Independent School

Overview

Lightsong Outdoor School is seeking a full-time teacher. The position involves working Monday–Thursday, 8:00–2:45, plus a Sunday morning study and planning meeting, participation in assemblies, community potlucks, plays, festival life, and possible overnight camping trips once a year.

Main lesson teacher responsibilities include delivering a Morning lesson for at least one blended class of 7–15 children each day, and teaching other classes as needed in subjects you are enthusiastic about or wish to grow in, depending on your willingness, desire, energy for challenge, and capacity for growth.

Lightsong strives to work out of Anthroposophy and values each person as an individual with divine gifts to offer to each other and the world. We aim for each person to meet their own karma and hold responsibility for supporting others in their own work of karma. In other words:

Our school community includes the children we work and learn with, their parents, other teachers (including part-time), parent and grandparent volunteers, the land we work on, the plants around us, and the animals in our care. We strive to acknowledge the being-ness of everything and everyone, and to hold human collaboration as paramount in our striving.

We honor the indications given by Rudolf Steiner and continue to study and wrestle with deepening our understanding of human development and the evolution of humanity through his lens. We strengthen this by working consciously with the Curative Education lectures.

Salary for teachers is discussed through a three-fold lens during which each teacher asks for what they need. If health care insurance is needed, we can have a conversation about additional pay to offset those costs.
