Job Description

Substitute Instructional Assistant for Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE) needed on an on-call basis for working with children, 3 to 5 years with special needs in their preschool setting. If you are regularly available to work on short notice, Mondays through Thursdays between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm, we encourage you to apply. Subs are normally contacted by text by the Office Manager as early as 6:00am the morning of the absence, as we do not have an automated system.

We have Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Programs in Albany, Corvallis, and Crawfordsville, Newport, and Lincoln City. You only need to apply for one of our Substitute Instructional Assistant positions to be considered for any of these locations. Our application will allow you to select the sites you prefer to work.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This dynamic role supports students, families and their colleagues in the learning environment. Working with kids and helping them learn academically, socially and behaviorally is what we do and this role is at the heart of this work. QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of developmental and physical disabilities in children.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs including word processing and databases.
  • Meet requirements of finger-print-based criminal history record verification.
GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS), Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
  • Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments.
  • Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective team building skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.
  • Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  • Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
  • Ability to lift, carry or transport up to 40 lbs. and have the strength and agility to assist children with special needs.
  • Must be able to kneel, crouch, sit and move from the floor to standing, sit on child sized furniture while working with children throughout the day.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to school, preschools, community settings, as deemed necessary.
