Compensation:

$40.50 - $60.80 per hour (based on years of experience)

Summary:

The ASC Staff Nurse:
Pre-Op, Post-Op, and Conscious Sedation performs nursing functions according to the sequential steps of the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Participate in and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that aligns with the principles outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Handbook. Employees are expected to read, understand, and embrace these principles.
  • Open, clean, and restock the unit for the day.
  • Assist in preparing all necessary medication and equipment involved in patient care.
  • Admit patients to the procedure room or post-operative area, assess and document patient status, formulate care plans, and complete all physician orders.
  • Provide conscious sedation in accordance with OSBN guidelines.
  • Monitor and assess patient’s condition throughout procedures and during pre-operative and post-operative periods.
  • Provide instructions, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed.
  • Assist in all areas as needed to balance workload and ensure quality patient care.
  • Education, Licensure, and

    Experience:
    • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
    • Current unencumbered licensure in Oregon and fulfillment of Oregon State Board of Nursing requirements.
    • Current CPR certification; ACLS certification or ability to obtain ACLS within six months of hire.
    • Minimum of three to five years of experience, with at least two years in critical care, PACU, or Medical Surgical Nursing preferred.
    • Evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process.
    • Completion of conscious sedation competency.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Skills:
    • Demonstrate calm, confident management of emergency situations.
    • Organize, prioritize, delegate, and assign duties to non-licensed personnel.
    • Maintain skills in the use and troubleshooting of pre- and post-operative equipment.
    • Have a comprehensive understanding of peri-operative nursing care in a freestanding ambulatory surgery unit.
    • Demonstrate flexibility and leadership during unscheduled procedure changes.
    • Work effectively with providers and other staff.
    • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work.
