Chemist I

Phosio Corporation has an opening for a Chemist I to join our Formulation Group in Corvallis, OR. This is a hands‑on, early‑career role supporting chemical formulation manufacturing, and thin‑film development in a collaborative lab environment. You will join our diverse team of talent and contribute to developing our new high refractive index films.

Type: Full-Time

• Support research and development of metal oxide formulations and optical coatings
• Prepare and manufacture baseline chemical formulations and assist in developing new deposition precursors
• Perform thin‑film processing and help collect, analyze, and interpret thin‑film characterization data
• Document experimental results and contribute to test plans, reports, and presentations
• Work with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot issues and support root cause analysis

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry (or related field) with 0–2 years of lab experience
• Hands‑on laboratory experience through coursework, projects, or internships
• Familiarity with standard lab practices, chemical handling, and safety procedures
• Ability to follow experimental procedures and accurately document results
• Basic data analysis skills and comfort working
• Basic understanding of thin‑film materials, metal oxides, or surface science principles
• Excellent oral and written communication

• Strong knowledge of surface science and thin films
• Experience with thin‑film characterization techniques such as ellipsometry, XRD, and SEM/EDX
• Standard weekday hours (generally 8am–6pm)
• Minimal travel
• Laboratory environment (~90%)
