Meat Clerk – Win Co Foods

As a Meat Clerk, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality, maintaining a clean and organized department, and providing outstanding customer service.
Overview• Ensure meat is properly wrapped, weighed, and priced.
• Operate wrapping machines and other equipment.
• Provide customer service and maintain product quality.
• Maintain cleanliness of the department and equipment.
• Work 6‑8 hour shifts, typically between 9:00 am and 10:00 pm.
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere.
- Provide fast, friendly, and courteous customer service.
- Answer customer questions and engage in suggestive selling.
- Weigh, plate, grind, wrap, and price poultry and meat.
- Prevent sale of spoiled or outdated products by following company policies and legal regulations.
- Properly merchandise product, manage inventory levels, and ensure eye‑appeal of the department.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area, equipment, cutting room, and retail cases.
- Stock and rotate product, consolidate racks, and move trays as needed.
- Clean mirrors, glass surfaces, and other equipment.
- Assist Meat Cutters and the Department Manager with additional tasks.
- Participate in a Meat Cutter training program to learn basic cut‑ting skills, if desired.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
- Work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform friendly, courteous, and tactful interactions with customers and coworkers.
- Conduct visual inspections and read production guides and product labels.
- Use cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Handle food products per state, county laws, and Win Co standards.
- Read and follow written work assignments and instructions.
- Communicate effectively when working on the sales floor.
- Reach, lift, and maneuver objects up to 25 lbs frequently, and 30–60 lbs occasionally.
- Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
- Perform repetitive arm movements required to wrap, slice, and process products.
- Stand for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, twist, and turn frequently.
- Operate equipment with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Work for prolonged periods in a refrigerated area (32–50 °F).
- Handle hands exposed to moisture while stocking poultry and meat.
- Learn product variability, perishability, safety, and sanitation procedures, and department policies.
- Perform basic math and compute weights and measures.
- Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
- Perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).
- Scales, wrapping machines, slicers, cubers, pallet jacks, bailer, and hand trucks.
