We are a licensed C-10 contractor and operate construction crews in various areas of CA and soon the rest of the U.S.

This role is in-office, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM in Costa Mesa, CA. This is a mid to senior level role. We are looking for a detail-oriented construction estimator to advise on the foreseeable cost of each of our major developments. The estimator should obtain all relevant project specifications, determine the most appropriate building materials, and secure favorable prices on all resources.
They should also inspect trends in construction to determine whether estimates are reasonable and competitive. The estimator will translate project requirements into concrete figures, adhere to financial constraints, and maintain high standards.
- Collect all pertinent documents including property plans, technical drawings and project specifications, permits, single line diagrams, etc.
- Study documentation, meet with construction project managers, and inspect the construction site to fully understand work requirements.
- Account for all costs and keep finance in the loop.
- Decide on the most appropriate human and material resources for each project.
- Obtain multiple quotes for each resource and select the most suitable offers.
- Negotiate with service providers to secure better prices.
- Outline the work plan to gauge the time needed to complete each development.
- Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan.
- Account for the use of resources, plus a reasonable profit margin to calculate an overarching price.
- Draft proposals detailing envisaged materials, costs, and time frames.
- Update project management tools such as Field Wire, Smartsheet, Excel and others.
- Manage multiple projects at a time and implement running timelines and schedules.
- Degree in mechanical engineering, architecture, or similar.
- Qualification in project management is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience as a construction estimator, must have deep understanding of Electrical, Concrete, Asphalt, ADA, and other trades as needed.
- Ability to forecast the cost of high-ticket, involved building developments.
- Knowledge of relevant technical and non-technical documents.
- Exceptional quantitative skills.
- Outstanding research and proposal writing skills.
- Ability to negotiate with seasoned vendors.
