Overview

Orange Coast College (OCC) is a 164-acre campus in Costa Mesa with a main campus and a Waterfront Campus in Newport Beach. Student Employment Program

Orange Coast College participates in a Student Employment Program with opportunities from summer through the academic year. Roles may be related to academic study or provide on-the-job experience within the Coast Community College District. Employment is managed under the District and can include work-study options.

Responsibilities and Roles
  • Representative duties are defined by the appropriate Division and/or Department and may include on-the-job training.
  • Student Assistant I – Entry level/Semi-skilled: supervised work with established methods and routine duties.
  • Student Assistant II – Intermediate/Advanced: work with general supervision, varied assignments, and use of data systems.
  • Student Assistant III – Specialist/Lead: broader responsibilities with independent judgment and potential leadership of lower-level student employees.

Specific duties and assignments vary by department and will be determined based on campus needs and student goals.

Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Education and experience vary by level:
    Student Assistant I requires little or no prior experience;
    Student Assistant II requires some experience or education;
    Student Assistant III requires prior experience, education, or specialized skills.
  • Skills include ability to balance work and studies and, depending on level and assignment, limited independent judgment.
  • Eligibility includes enrollment in current semester classes and eligibility for federal work-study, where applicable.
  • D.E.I.A:

Part-time students may qualify for federal work-study or other grants. Complete the Financial Aid FAFSA and indicate interest in Federal Work-Study. Contact the campus Financial Aid office for details.
