Overview
Orange Coast College is seeking a full‑time tenure‑track faculty member in Aviation Maintenance, starting Fall 2026. The role involves teaching all core courses in Aviation Maintenance, Airframe and Powerplant systems, and avionics, as well as curriculum development, program accreditation, and participation in college and district governance.
Responsibilities- Teach all scheduled courses in Aviation Maintenance, Airframe and Powerplant systems, and avionics.
- Develop, revise, and evaluate curriculum and instructional materials.
- Maintain professional competency and stay current in the discipline.
- Record and report accurate student grades and attendance per college procedures.
- Provide and maintain office hours, support students, and participate in college and district committees.
- Contribute to program accreditation activities and pursue professional development.
- Valid California Community College instructor credential issued before July 1 1990, or
- Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of professional experience, or
- Associate degree with six years of professional experience, or
- Combined education and experience equivalent to the above (equivalency application required).
- Current FAA mechanic certificate rating for airframe and power plant.
- Minimum five years recent experience as active airplane mechanic.
- Experience teaching aviation maintenance at post‑secondary level.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, scholarship or innovative practice in aviation maintenance.
- Experience working with racially minoritized students and commitment to equity in the classroom.
- Computer and online instruction skills.
- Position starts July 1 2026; salary falls on AA salary schedule ($67,053–$159,855).
- Full‑time, two‑semester appointment.
- Required certifications:
Tuberculosis exam, fingerprint clearance, work‑eligibility documents. - Compliance with district reporting and Title IX policies.
- Complete District Application Form and supplemental questions.
- Cover letter (≤ 2 pages) addressing qualifications.
- Resume (≤ 2 pages).
- Equivalency application if applicable.
- Submit online by January 28 2026, 11:59 pm.
