About the Coast Community College District

Performance

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.
• Create and maintain an environment that encourages discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
• Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
• Keep current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill all the professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records.
• Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and/or off‑campus classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Meet one of the following: a. Valid California Community College instructor credential (issued before 1/7/1990); b. Master’s degree in political science, government, or international relations; c. Bachelor’s degree in political science, government, or international relations

* * a Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, J.D., or LL.B.; d. Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above. Candidates requiring equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency

Evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage a diverse classroom and provide effective instruction to community college students.

Desirable Qualifications

Recent community college or lower‑division teaching experience.

Expertise and professional experience in the field(s) to be taught.

Conditions of Employment

Part‑time, temporary basis contingent upon verification of employment history, background checks, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. The hours will be arranged with the supervisor. This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill hourly assignments on an as‑needed basis; applications remain in the pool for one year.

Salary

Determined by Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) in accordance with the current Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
