Job Description

Do you like working on and repairing rugged, digital electronic devices? Are you interested in how surveying instruments work? Do you like working hands‑on with computers, optics, electronics and mechanics? Leica Geosystems, a part of Hexagon, is seeking an individual to fill an immediate opening in our Costa Mesa, CA facility. Training and certification will be provided by Leica Geosystems.

SUMMARY:

Maintains, repairs and upgrades surveying equipment (including GPS, TPS, construction lasers, computers and software) or other Leica Geosystems or 3rd‑party equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The person in this role will learn and assist with:

  • performing service diagnostics and the preparation of estimates;
  • repairing equipment as instructed;
  • completing equipment adjustments and cleaning services as assigned;
  • checking service diagnostics programs and making recommendations;
  • supporting service, support and sales personnel;
  • providing assistance and answering customer inquiries related to service issues;
  • adhering to Leica Geosystems service protocols

Employees will be required to follow any other job‑related instructions and to perform any other job‑related duties requested by their supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree (AA) in Electronics or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE

SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, procedure manuals, and service protocols; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Certain positions/locations may require bilingual skills.

MATHEMATICAL

SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to gather information, diagnose, and apply the solution to technical problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position generally requires sitting at a work bench, speaking on the telephone, and working at the computer for most of the day. The individual must be able to sit, reach for materials, use hands to handle and feel work items, and communicate with others. Lifting up to 50 pounds is typically required; occasional lifting of 50–100 pounds may be necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works under normal office conditions with no exposure to fumes, outdoor weather conditions, or toxic chemicals. Noise level is that of a business office with moderate noise due to computers, printers, and light traffic.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Some travel for training may be required, but minimal travel is expected once past the initial training period.

COMPUTER

SKILLS:

Strong computer skills, including software/hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting under Windows. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
