Martenson, Hasbrouck & Simon LLP ("MHS") is a national law firm focusing on labor and employment defense and business litigation. Based in Atlanta, with additional offices in Carlsbad, Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Sacramento, MHS litigates labor and employment matters on behalf of all of its clients, including several national employers.
MHS is seeking an experienced full-time Paralegal for its new Costa Mesa office. The Paralegal will be a member of a team of attorneys and staff that assist with our labor and employment defense and business litigation work. The Paralegal will be responsible, with attorney supervision, for various aspects of assigned cases.
Key Responsibilities- Managing case files, including threatened litigation, EEOC charges, and litigation matters.
- Corresponding with courts, clients, local counsel, and opposing counsel.
- Managing document productions.
- Preparing, revising, and formatting pleadings, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Researching applicable case law, court rules, statutes, and ordinances.
- Filing in both state and federal courts and with administrative agencies.
- Assisting in preparation for depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, and hearings.
- Presentation of case summaries and courses of action to supervising attorneys.
- Responsible for recording personal billable time.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $88,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications- Prior legal experience necessary; employment law background is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
- High‑quality level of customer service, professionalism, and interpersonal skills (oral and written) as the role requires various interactions with attorneys, courts and administrative agencies, local and opposing counsel, as well as firm clients.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of Adobe (or similar) software and ability to create, edit, modify, redact, and protect PDF files.
- Experience with document management software – Net Documents knowledge is a plus.
- Must be self‑motivated and proactive.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, and project‑management skills.
