Job Description
SUMMARY:
This role serves as a multi‑skilled technician responsible for delivering advanced mechanical and electrical maintenance support while demonstrating specialized technical expertise. The position upholds all responsibilities of Maintenance Technician I and II, including mentoring and training technicians and applying strong engineering knowledge with effective root‑cause analysis methods. The technician will troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and apply safe electrical work practices in alignment with NFPA 70E standards.
They will also demonstrate advanced mechanical proficiency across drive, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC systems, including the ability to reengineer equipment for improved reliability and efficiency. Ongoing job‑related education and the safe operation of Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) are essential components of this role.
Primary Responsibilities
• Multi-skilled technician providing focused competency maintenance support, mechanically proficient and demonstrated technical expertise in a specific specialized maintenance function.
• Maintain the responsibilities and performance requirements within both fields of the Maintenance Technician I and II.
• Mentor and train all technicians.
• Demonstrate technical engineering expertise/knowledge and utilize effective root cause analysis methods.
• Continuing job-related education is required.
• Operates Power Industrial Trucks (PIT).
Electrical Skills Required
- Understand, troubleshoot and problem solve issues of electrical nature while demonstrating electrical safe work proactive.
- Test and perform preventative maintenance.
- Understand basic operation and use of electrical test equipment.
- Understand electrical arc flash protection code requirements NFPA 70E.
- Understand basic electrical circuits.
- Understand basic function of PLC, drives and controls.
- Understand AC and DC motors and drives.
- Understand troubleshooting process for electrical equipment and electrical systems.
Mechanical Skills
- Advanced competency in drive systems, lineal systems, actuating and clamping systems.
- Ability to train fundamentals of metal fabrication; welding, manual mill and lathe, sheet metal fabrication.
- Understand advanced and complex functions of production CNC machining equipment.
- Able to reengineer equipment for more efficiency and reliability.
- Advanced understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and operation of all components.
- Advanced competency in root cause analysis utilizing AMS tools; able to lead and facilitate RCCA and equipment reliability sessions.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- Multi-skilled technician satisfied by demonstrated technical expertise in advanced maintenance functions.
- Excellent mechanical troubleshooting, reasoning and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- 2‑yr technical degree in a related field or equivalent past work experience.
- Continued technical training required each year.
- Excellent communication, time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and self‑direct activities.
- Ability to manage vital maintenance functions to maximize corporate assets.
- Advanced project management skills.
- Directs and provides leadership/mentoring/coaching of other technicians.
- Must operate/be trained in the use of Power Industrial Trucks (PIT).
