The Multi-Modality Respiratory Care Practitioner positions apply fundamental techniques of respiratory therapy to patients in various healthcare settings. Able to perform basic respiratory care procedures on newborns, pediatrics, and adults.
Respiratory Care Practitioner CRT assists in diagnosing and treating patients with pulmonary disorders such as asthma, COPD, collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. May collect blood samples, conduct tests, measure lung capacities, and determine gas levels.
Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT treats similar conditions, diagnosing ailments, designing treatment plans, and conducting tests to assess lung capacity and gas levels.
Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner handles similar responsibilities but also has at least one specialty credential like Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS), Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT), or Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS).
Responsibilities Patient Care- Performs ABG punctures according to NAH Policy.
- Provides pharmacological solutions as prescribed, monitors effectiveness.
- Records vital signs, breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and response to treatment.
- Verifies patient identity and orders before treatment.
- Sets ventilator parameters per protocol and doctor’s orders.
- Assists with E.T. tube placement, minimizing trauma.
- Assembles, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment.
- Educates patients on therapy and medications prior to discharge.
- Completes billing paperwork.
- Documents assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses accurately and timely.
- Reports safety incidents promptly, attends safety training, and monitors safety in the work environment.
- Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures certifications/licenses are current if required.
- Stays compliant with regulations and completes mandatory training on time.
- Associates Degree from an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program - Required
- Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners - Required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC - Required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS - Required
- NRP - Required within 90 days of hire or in special care nursery
