Job Overview

Northern Arizona Healthcare is hiring Registered Nurses for our Verde Valley Medical Center location in Cottonwood, AZ. We are looking for nurses across several specialties, including Critical Care, Cardiology, Medical/Surgical/Telemetry, Emergency Department, Surgical Services, Oncology, and Women & Infants. The Registered Nurse coordinates patient care, education, and discharge planning, following the ENA and ANA Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics.

• Completes chart audits ensuring accuracy and documents changes.
• Completes nursing assessment for new patients (prepares charts, enters patient history in the EMR, verifies medications).
• Updates patient care records.
• Implements corrective actions based on recognition of changes in patient condition.
• Knowledge of IV and/or oral chemotherapy medications prescribed.
• Interprets basic laboratory and diagnostic data and communicates results to physician for follow-up/intervention.
• Demonstrates accuracy of documentation of assessments, interventions and patient responses.
• Utilizes the pain scale in assessing patient’s pain and documents interventions and progress.
• Functions as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and concerns.
• Documents patients on concurrent treatment and communicates to the appropriate staff.
• Coordinates Brachy Therapy procedures with physician offices and OR scheduling.
• Responsible for patient teaching for pre‑op and post‑op follow‑up instructions.
• Maintains open interactions with various internal departments, outside agencies, patients and families.
• Participates in Cancer Center sponsored community health screenings and events.
• Reports safety‑related incidents promptly through the Midas/RDE tool and attends all safety‑related training programs.
• Stays current with state and federal regulations and company policies impacting the employee’s area of responsibility.
• Maintains required certifications and licenses prior to expiration.
• Completes company mandatory modules and required job‑specific training within specified timeframe.
• Remains current on radiation oncology and medical oncology practices.

• Education:
  
  RNs hired on or after 7/1/2016 must have graduated from a BSN program within 6 years of hire. Existing staff RNs are encouraged to pursue a BSN.
• Certification & Licensure:
  Active, unrestricted Arizona RN License or valid participating compact license (required). BLS and ACLS required upon hire. Other specialty certifications may be required.
• Clinical competencies:
  Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for assigned roles.
• Computer skills:
  Proficient in computer use and basic software programs.
