The Dental Assistant is a member of the dental team whose primary responsibilities are to prepare patients for a visit, check-in and check-out patients and schedule appointments and reappointments.
SCHEDULE AND PAYThis is a full-time (40-hour) position.
Hours:
Clinic hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM- 7:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM- 12:00 PM. Schedule for this position will be discussed during interview.
Pay Range: $18-21/hour, based on experience and education level.
DUTIES- Prepares, cleans, and sets up operatories for patient appointments
- Takes and mounts dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Prepares sterile instruments and equipment
- Prepares patients for their appointment and discharge as well
- Asks about patient's medical history
- Takes blood pressure and pulse
- Performs dental assistant duties per provider workflow and practice
- Provides and assists with patient discharge
- Provides patients with instruction for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedure
- Registers patients for appointment, if necessary
- Assists with documentation for accurate billing and charting
- Active Dental Assisting Certificate in the state of Iowa preferred
- Iowa Radiology Certification, or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
- Sterilization Certification a plus
- Previous training and experience in dental assisting preferred.
