Certified Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and perform other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach pharmacy technicians and cashier staff on system operation.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving customer issues to ensure a positive experience.
• Share customer service best practices with all team members, including greeting, eye contact, courtesy, helping proactively, identifying needs, and servicing until satisfied.
• Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
• Under supervision, assist in the practice of pharmacy, review and comply with Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager including entering patient data, filling prescriptions, verifying medication correctness, and checking for interactions.
• Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to Company policies and Quality Improvement Program.
• Strictly adhere to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable dispensing activities.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers to OTC aisle when possible.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
• Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services timely and efficiently.
• Assist with inventory management activities: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Assist pharmacist with clinical services such as blood/urine sample collection and labeling, and coordinate clinical services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining relationships with local medical community through outreach and detailing.
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to keep Pharmacy Department stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program or state required certification/registration. Earn PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
• Attend training and complete requested PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.

• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.

Salary Range: $18 - $21.5 / Hourly
