DVSA Program Shelter Assistant

- Provide direct support and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children residing in the shelter.
- Assist with the intake process for new residents, ensuring their immediate needs are met.
- Collaborate with shelter staff to create a safe and supportive living environment.
- Conduct safety assessments and develop safety plans with residents.
- Facilitate support groups and educational workshops on domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed care principles and crisis intervention techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Criminal background screening, including Child and Dependent Adult Abuse registry check, is required for all employees and volunteers.
- FBI fingerprinting.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
