Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a current IA or compact license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications, and strong critical care skills for night shifts.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within an acute care hospital setting
- 16-bed ICU caring for primarily medical patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and MI
- Nurse to patient ratio is 2:1
- Shift is 12-hour nights from
- Work required every third weekend and coverage for July 4th holiday
- ICU RNs may float to PCU if not needed in ICU
- EPIC EMR is used and prior experience is recommended
- Required to pass a skills exam during orientation with a score of at least 90%
- Unit utilizes Draeger tele monitors and centralized monitor techs
- No nurse aides on the unit; charge nurse takes a patient assignment
- RNs are responsible for titrating critical drips and providing advanced critical care interventions
- Must wear navy blue scrubs as per dress code and adhere to hospital fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails
- Hospitalist is in-house 24/7 with intensivist support during days and via telemedicine at night; RT is shared with ER
- One shift of ICU-specific and one shift of PCU-specific orientation provided
- No call or standby required
- Required time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; no additional RTO will be approved after assignment start
- Only candidates living at least 50 miles from the facility are eligible
- Active IA or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience preferred
- Strong experience with drips, vents, Bipaps, titration of vasopressors and sedation agents (Levo, Neo, Cardene, Precedex, Propofol)
- Ability to read and verify telemetry strips
- Driver's license required to confirm residence outside 50-mile radius
- May not have been employed (FT, PT, PRN) by Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
- Professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
