Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Orthopedics

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Ortho RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and a valid IA or compact RN license.

• Active IA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Driver's license required at time of consideration to verify residence location

• Acute care Med Surg/Ortho unit at a Level 3 trauma facility
• 28 beds plus 22 overflow with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes total knee/hip/shoulder replacements, fractures, COPD, diabetes, sepsis, pneumonia, CHF, dementia, oncology, and substance abuse cases
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Nurse aids/techs on unit at a 1:10 ratio
• Monitor techs available in ICU; telemetry monitors located at the main nurses station
• 12-hour night shifts,  or , with self-scheduling
• Every third weekend required (Friday and Saturday count as weekend nights)
• Required to float first within scope
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Unit emphasizes hourly rounding and bedside shift report
• Best suited for candidates who are flexible, self-directed, and enjoy learning new processes
• Orientation includes one week of classroom training followed by one 12-hour shift on the unit
• Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO requests will not be approved after submission
• First-time travelers may be considered if flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment
