- Develop work plans after identifying issues
- Run diagnostic tests on diesel/gas engines and specialized equipment
- Repair or replace transmissions, brakes, suspensions, exhausts, engines, and more
- Perform oil changes, brake checks, wheel balancing, and preventive maintenance
- Test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure performance
- Maintain parts inventory and service records
- Provide emergency roadside repairs when needed
- Support traffic control and facility/grounds maintenance as needed
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, vehicle electrical systems, and specialized equipment
- Comfortable with diagnostic software, tools, and repair equipment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Team player with solid communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED
- Degree preferred or vocational/technical certification in diesel engine repair
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic
