The Group Fitness Instructor is a valuable component within the Reiver Fitness program that is responsible for planning and instructing group fitness classes at the Dr. John and Jean Marshall Wellness Center.

• Check-in/register participants before each class.
• Plan and lead class in a safe and effective manner.
• Encourage participants throughout the workout.
• Make modifications for participants varying abilities as necessary.
• Maintain an updated inventory of fitness equipment and supplies.
• Notify the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness of any equipment or repair needs.
• Respond to emergency situations according to level of first responder training.
• Keep an accurate record of hours worked and submit timesheet when due.
• Maintain knowledge of and uphold facility and program policies and expectations.
• Approximately 3-5 hours per week.
• Hours vary but may include mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.

• Experience in Exercise Science, Personal training, or Group Exercise, or willingness to train to gain experience in these fields.
• First Aid, CPR & AED Certified, or willing to obtain within 1 month of being hired.
• Must be able to work independently without direct supervision on a day-to-day basis.
• Outgoing personality with a passion for fitness and wellness and a willingness to share it to create a positive environment.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills, customer service skills, and ability to enforce policies and procedures.
• Current NCCA, ACE, or NETA accredited group exercise certification or working toward becoming certified preferred.

• Required to stand for extended periods of time and use hands to operate fitness machines, demonstrate exercises, and use telephone and basic office equipment.
• Regularly required to talk and hear.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
