Support inclusive education as a Sign Language Interpreter with School District 71, providing essential communication services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in various educational settings.

The role of Program Worker - Sign Language Interpreter is critical in fostering an inclusive environment at School District 71. You will interpret during instruction and school activities while collaborating with educators to enhance student communication and understanding. Your expertise will empower students and enrich their learning experiences across diverse contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret educational materials and classroom interactions

• Work with the Teacher of the Deaf to support student needs

• Educate peers about effective communication methods

• Collect observational data and provide feedback to staff

• Perform related duties as directed by supervisors

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; ASL-English Interpreting diploma required

• Two years of professional interpreting experience

• Active membership in regional/national associations like WAVLI

• Understanding of educational principles and support services

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
