Position: Indigenous Language Instructor at North Island College

This role is crucial for fostering language revitalization within community partnerships with Ahousaht First Nation. As an Instructor, you will support a diverse array of learners, guiding them in language acquisition through culturally responsive practices. Your responsibilities will include developing learning materials, assessing student progress, and cultivating a strong sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and prepare instructional materials for language classes

• Teach using varied approaches to meet student needs

• Direct positive, supportive learning experiences

• Engage regularly with students for discussions and feedback

• Collaborate with community members for authentic learning

Requirements:

• Experience with Indigenous language revitalization

• BC Teaching Certificate or equivalent preferred

• Bachelor's Degree focused on language acquisition

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Background in culturally grounded teaching methods
