Sessional Instructor/Learning Centre Coordinator, Access to Practical Nursing

Overview:
The sessional Instructor/Learning Centre Coordinator, up to 45%, is a key member of the APN program team. The Instructor component includes teaching the lab course PNS 106:
Integrated Nursing Practice Access

. The Learning Centre Coordinator component provides leadership for the APN Learning Centre, including overseeing day‑to‑day operations; advancing simulation‑based curriculum and faculty development; and designing, implementing, and coordinating teaching plans in collaboration with program faculty. The position works in consultation with other NIC health programs and may support collaborative initiatives to further develop simulation capacity across health disciplines. The successful candidate will implement creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of lab activities;

use initiative in providing documentation and follow‑up with regard to student concerns and problem resolution; and bring facilitation skills to management of conflict. The schedule for this assignment will be flexible to meet the needs of the program.

Pay Grade:
The annual salary range is $70,437- $112,872 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.

Key Responsibilities Instructional Duties
  • Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments.
  • Use a variety of approaches and materials to address different learning needs.
  • Teach in assigned subject areas and include all required subject matter or skill activity in courses.
  • Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment.
  • Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours to discuss progress and other issues that influence learning.
  • Clearly communicate learning outcomes for programs and courses, and the way in which learners will be evaluated against those outcomes.
  • Design and conduct evaluations or appraisals of students and keep students informed of their progress.
  • Submit grades in a timely manner in accordance with Policy 4-15, Reporting Final Grades.
  • Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement and other records required by the College and affiliated agencies; at the end of employment with the College, submit marks and student records to the department Chair.
Professional Faculty Duties
  • Work within College educational policies and strategic plans.
  • Advise the Department Chair on items that need to be ordered to keep inventories adequate for courses taught.
  • Advise the Department Chair regarding enrollment management strategies for their areas of responsibility.
  • Notify Department Chair and appropriate Administrator and/or Campus Health and Safety Committee of any health and safety concerns and assist in rectifying the problem.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of computer applications appropriate to the teaching environment.
  • Maintain continuous professional development of competencies and qualifications as required.
  • Participate actively as a contributing member of the College community on College committees and other College-wide activities, when appropriate.
  • Participate in department meetings and other department activities during normal working hours, when possible.
  • Undertake other related responsibilities and duties which may be assigned by the College when course load permits.
Learning Centre Coordinator Duties
  • Collaborate with the APN department to maintain a safe, operational and learner‑friendly environment in the Health Lab.
  • Collaborate with the APN department faculty to develop and coordinate “best informed practice” experiential learning activities and course materials in keeping with the provincial APN/PN curriculum blueprint and act as instructional facilitator for the new skills…
