K-9 Learning Support Teacher - Comox Valley

Contribute to an inclusive environment as a K-9 Learning Support Teacher with School District 71 in Comox Valley. Focus on helping students with diverse learning needs from now until June 30, 2027.

This temporary 0.40 FTE position requires you to support students with learning disabilities and behavioral challenges. Collaborating with classroom teachers is essential for developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.s) and instructional strategies.

Your role will also include direct remedial instruction and active student assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support inclusion for students facing various challenges

• Collaborate to develop and monitor I.E.P.s

• Conduct assessments and adapt curricula accordingly

• Implement early literacy interventions effectively

• Provide training and oversight for educational assistants

Requirements:

• Degree in Special Education preferred

• Experience with educational software like Kurzweil

• Strong understanding of K-9 curriculum

• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

• Successful elementary teaching background
