Enhance patient care as a Histology-Pathology Technologist with Island Health. This temp full-time role focuses on laboratory procedures, ensuring quality and safety in histology and pathology.
Reporting to the Supervisor and Pathologist, you will be part of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics. Your responsibilities include grossing, processing, embedding, and cutting histological samples. The ideal candidate possesses a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and recent experience in related histology-pathology work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform grossing, processing, embedding, and cutting of histology samples
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff
• Adhere to legislation and policies related to laboratory technology
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care
• Demonstrate procedures to other employees and students
Requirements:
• Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology program
• Recent experience in histology-pathology within the last six years
• Certification with CAMLPR or CSMLS preferred
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Physical ability to perform job duties
