Position: Sign Language Interpreter for Schools
Enhance communication in education as a Sign Language Interpreter with School District 71. Bring your expertise to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in the classroom and school events.

This role focuses on interpreting for elementary and secondary students, facilitating communication among peers, teachers, and parents. You will collaborate with the educational team to support student achievement and develop independence in communication. A passion for inclusive learning and dedication to professional development is essential for success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret communications using ASL, contact signing, and spoken language

• Consult with teachers to support individual education plans

• Educate students on the interpreting role and expectations

• Collaborate with staff to enhance student learning experiences

• Collect data to track student progress and participation

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or ASL-English interpreting certification

• Minimum two years of interpreting experience

• Membership in relevant interpreter associations

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
