Position: On-Call Sign Language Interpreter Role
Become an On-Call Sign Language Interpreter with School District 71 and facilitate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Play a vital role in creating an inclusive learning environment.

This interpreter position serves both elementary and secondary students, ensuring effective communication among students, teachers, and other stakeholders. You will engage in various school activities and provide interpreting services tailored to individual education plans. A focus on professional growth and collaboration is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language and ASL in classroom settings

• Collaborate with educational teams on student education plans

• Assist students in understanding concepts and vocabulary

• Maintain communication with staff regarding interpreting needs

• Engage in professional development opportunities regularly

Requirements:

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree or ASL-English interpreting certification

• At least two years of interpreting experience

• Membership in interpreter associations like WAVLI preferred

• Strong communication skills and teamwork capability

• Ability to physically meet job requirements
