Job Description - EHS Professional (332294). Response Technologies is a Rhode Island-based, award-winning company dedicated to the design and development of disruptive products and technologies. We serve industries including military, automotive, aerospace, and energy, with expertise in material sciences and additive manufacturing to strengthen our position as industry leaders.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Professional: This role is responsible for assembling and conducting the appropriate level Safety Review Board (SRB), and communicating environmental health and safety risks, issues and incidents up and down the chain of command. The EHS site support representative must have a solid working knowledge of OSHA programs (e.g., machine guarding, lock out tag out, fall protection, hearing protection) and apply that knowledge to Bell operations.

This position is onsite in Coventry, Rhode Island.

Responsibilities
  • Consult and participate in resolution and corrective action for OSHA recordable injuries and first aid.
  • Monitor and strive to improve Lost Time Injury Rate (LTIR) and Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) goals and targets.
  • Drive improvements to the Safety Management System.
  • Support and advise facility personnel and leadership regarding statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate and consult with Environmental subject matter experts regarding air, water, waste, and industrial hygiene to ensure compliance with Bell, city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead and develop safety advocates to enable them to take responsibility for EHS related issues. Mentor and advise other employees as needed.
  • Develop and train personnel as required.
  • Partner with and provide direction to facilities, engineering and manufacturing regarding EHS requirements for current factories, future factories, and equipment and facility changes within the assigned center of excellence.
  • Audit and validate performance to plan and adherence to requirements.
  • Assess risk and advise leadership on actions necessary to achieve compliance.
  • Advise site management on EHS issues and recommend actions; if necessary, issue instructions to cease unsafe activities.
  • Walk the shop floor and assess risk to compliance, including ergonomic risks.
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Review and recommend revisions to policies and procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with and support EHS team.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to clearly convey information and instructions, both verbally and in writing, with strong presentation and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop safety advocates, mentor other employees, and act as the lead EHS consultant within the facility.
  • Experience working with Environmental subject matter experts, facility personnel, and leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risks, recommend actions, and resolve EHS issues.
  • Meticulous in auditing, validating performance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of plant processes and equipment and safe/unsafe working conditions.
  • Knowledge of behavioral-based safety tools (preferred).
Required and

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferred in EHS, engineering, or applied science).
  • At least 2 years of work experience in Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, OSHA, federal and state requirements (preferred).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or EH&S environment.
  • Ability to analyze accidents, near-misses, risk assessments, safety inspections, and safety audits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs, and team lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, squatting, sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs, ladders and work stands.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and crouch as required for tasks.
  • Good vision to focus on small details and identify defects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding progress and potential issues.
