We are representing a well-established and progressive accountancy practice with a strong presence across the Midlands, currently seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to join its growing team. This opportunity is ideally suited to a part-qualified ACCA or ICAEW professional, or an experienced Semi Senior with solid UK practice experience, looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and development-focused environment.
The successful candidate will work with a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of sectors, supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting and tax services. The role offers increasing responsibility, structured training, and a clear progression pathway towards an Accounts Senior position.
Responsibilities- Preparation of statutory accounts and management accounts for a varied client portfolio
- Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax compliance work
- Preparation and review of VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
- Supporting senior staff with tax planning and advisory assignments
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries, and maintain strong working relationships
- Assisting with cash flow forecasting and basic business planning assignments
- Reviewing work prepared by junior team members where appropriate
- Ensuring all assignments are completed accurately and in accordance with deadlines and regulatory standards
- Using IRIS or similar accountancy software efficiently
- Supporting Managers and Directors in delivering high-quality client service
- Part-qualified ACCA or ICAEW (or actively studying towards qualification)
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice environment
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and basic tax compliance
- Experience using IRIS or similar accountancy software
- Good understanding of VAT regulations and HMRC requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective client relationships
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
- Proactive and professional approach to learning and development
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff would be advantageous
- Commercial awareness and a solution-focused mindset
