Job Summary
Working within the rota team, the post holder will provide comprehensive administrative support for the production and running of medical on-call rotas within the Medicine Department. The post holder will provide a comprehensive, quality, confidential administration service in support of the Rota, proactively co‑ordinate and troubleshoot the junior medical staff rota, ensuring that sufficient doctors are available to provide a ward and emergency on‑call service.
The successful candidate will be expected to organise workload and co‑ordinate activities in conjunction with and supervised by the Rota Co‑ordinator to ensure an efficient service is provided.

- Support the co‑ordination of the Medicine on‑call rota, and the Resident Doctor’s annual leave approval/recording process in line with Standard Operating Procedures to avoid service gaps.
- Record annual leave, study, and professional leave in support of the Service Manager.
- Continuously monitor the on‑call rotas for upcoming gaps or potential issues and elevate them to the coordinator.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines related to the service.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, alerting senior management if practice contravenes policy or concerns patient care.
- Support the Rota Coordinator/Manager with staff induction, orientation, and mandatory training according to Trust policy.
- Provide support with maintaining and updating the TEMPRE system, ensuring all claims are submitted on time.
- Support timely amendment of on‑call rotas to reflect leave, swaps or sickness absence so that each department lead is aware.
- Undertake any other administration duties across the Medicine Group that are consistent with the responsibilities of the post to provide a quality service.
