About the ProgrammeApprenticeship Programmes are a great way to earn and learn! Our Apprentice Procurement Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business.
You’ll be supported every step of the way. Your role will be to gain practical experience in a few teams, developing your knowledge and understanding of Severn Trent and its processes. You will also earn a professional qualification that is equivalent to a first‑year under‑graduate degree.
All of this will allow you to further develop your skills so you can communicate data effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders. You will also spend time with our procurement team.

How the Programme WorksYou will be based in Coventry, the heart of our operations. The programme requires you to complete placements around procurement throughout your time in the role, gaining exposure in different areas of the department so that you are equipped with the right skills to build your career here at Severn Trent.
You will be expected to study and complete CIPS Level 4 – the Diploma in Procurement and Supply, a professional qualification equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree.
In this exciting programme you will have the chance to discuss your development and career ambitions in your one‑to‑one meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team.
What You Will Learn- Understanding the market and how to use it to your best advantage
- Learning supplier and inventory management
- Learning the importance of spending time in a workplace and how financial decisions affect real‑world situations
- Building a network with customers and learning how to maintain relationships with other organisations
- CIPS Study includes sourcing, contracting, negotiation, risk management and supplier relationships
- A ‘can do’ attitude – willing to get stuck in, take accountability for decisions and actions and pride in your work
- A love of variety in a role and ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast‑paced working environment
- Ability to quickly prioritise tasks and initiative to dive head‑first into problem solving
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teams
- Ability to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiences
- Curiosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment
